Spartanburg Woman Arrested for First-Degree Burglary Just Days After Prior Booking

Lillian Jean-Kali Smith, an 18-year-old resident of Spartanburg, was arrested on March 24, 2025, at 6:53 p.m. by the Spartanburg Police Department—marking her second booking in just nine days. The arrest, which occurred in the 100 block of South 411, comes as a significant escalation from her prior charges earlier this month and now includes a felony count of Burglary in the First Degree.

Smith is charged under South Carolina Code § 16-11-311 with Burglary in the First Degree, a Class A felony considered one of the most serious property offenses in the state. The charge applies in cases involving entry into a dwelling with aggravating factors such as the presence of a weapon, the threat of violence, or a relevant criminal history. A conviction carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, with the possibility of life imprisonment and no option for parole or sentence suspension.

She also faces a second count—Burglary in the Third Degree (First Offense), under § 16-11-313—which involves unlawful entry into a building with intent to commit a crime. This offense is classified as a Class F felony and carries a maximum sentence of 5 years.

Smith, who is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs approximately 100 pounds, had previously been arrested by the Lyman Police Department on March 15, 2025, for violating blue light laws (first offense) and reckless driving—both misdemeanors. The rapid progression from traffic-related offenses to a serious burglary charge raises concerns about a troubling pattern of behavior. No bond details have been released at this time, and her next court appearance is pending.
