Branson Woman Arrested for Assaulting Officer with Bible, Resisting Arrest
Branson, MO – A woman accused of assaulting a police officer with a Bible and resisting arrest was taken into custody on February 16, 2025, in Taney County, Missouri. According to a probable cause statement filed by the Branson Police Department, Chloe Isabella Norman faces charges of Assault in the Fourth Degree – Special Victim and Resisting Arrest, both classified as Class A misdemeanors under Missouri law.
Officer A. Williams of the Branson Police Department responded to a disturbance call that day and encountered Norman, who allegedly threw a Bible at the officer when informed she would be going to jail. The report states that upon the officer’s attempt to apply handcuffs, Norman tensed her body, pulled her arms away, and placed her hand inside another individual’s pocket to resist being restrained.
Authorities say that even after being placed in handcuffs, Norman continued resisting by extending her foot to prevent officers from escorting her to the patrol vehicle. Due to her continued noncompliance, officers had to physically carry her from the doorway to the vehicle.
The report also indicates that Norman had two outstanding warrants from Jasper County for failing to appear in court, as well as a separate Show Cause Summons for another failure to appear in a Branson municipal case. Citing her past record, the officer noted that there were reasonable grounds to believe she would not comply with a summons if released.
Under Missouri law, Fourth-Degree Assault on a Special Victim (RSMo 565.056) is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a $2,000 fine. Likewise, Resisting Arrest (RSMo 575.150) carries the same potential penalties.
Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of compliance during arrests to avoid additional charges. Norman’s case will proceed through the Taney County court system, with further legal proceedings expected in the coming weeks.
