Hallandale Woman Arrested in Broward County for Multiple Drug Possession Charges
Nicole Stephanie Ruiz, 31, was arrested on February 27, 2025, by Hallandale authorities in Broward County on multiple drug-related charges. She was booked into custody with a total bond set at $10,000.
Ruiz, who stands 5’3″, with black hair and brown eyes, faces four felony charges under Florida’s controlled substance laws. These include possession of alprazolam (Xanax) with a bond of $2,500, possession of oxycodone (Percocet) with a bond of $2,500, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, each carrying a $2,500 bond.
Under Florida law, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription is a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison, five years of probation, and a fine of up to five thousand dollars per charge. With four separate counts against her, Ruiz could face significant legal consequences, particularly if she has prior drug-related offenses on her record.
Her case will proceed through the Broward County court system, where prosecutors may consider whether she had intent to distribute or if the charges stem from personal use. Depending on the circumstances, she could be eligible for a diversion program, probation, or a plea deal. Law enforcement in Florida continues to take a strong stance against prescription drug-related offenses, as opioid and benzodiazepine abuse remain persistent public health concerns in the state.
