Callahan Woman Jailed for Violating Pretrial Release in Dating Violence Case
Nassau County authorities booked Mary Ann Strickland, 26, of Callahan, Florida, into the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center on March 15, 2025, at 10:59 AM after she was arrested by the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office for violating pretrial release conditions related to dating violence. Court records indicate the alleged violation occurred at 9:48 AM that same morning.
Strickland, who stands 5’3” tall and weighs 100 pounds, was assigned minimum security classification as a newly charged prisoner. She remains in custody on a $2,502 surety bond while awaiting trial. No court date has been set.
This latest arrest follows a prior case in which Strickland was arrested on March 25, 2024, at 9:59 PM by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on a battery charge involving bodily harm in a dating violence incident, classified as a first-degree misdemeanor under Florida Statute 784.03(1)(A)2. That charge typically carries a penalty of up to one year in jail, probation, or a $1,000 fine.
Under Florida law, violating pretrial release conditions in a domestic or dating violence case is treated seriously. Defendants granted release must comply with strict no-contact orders and other court-imposed restrictions. A violation of these terms is itself a separate misdemeanor offense, potentially resulting in additional penalties, including revocation of bond and further incarceration.
With Strickland’s prior battery charge still unresolved, her latest arrest could complicate her legal situation. If convicted, she may face enhanced penalties and stricter judicial oversight. She is expected to remain in custody unless she posts bond or until further court proceedings determine her status.
