Seminole County Woman Arrested for Child Abuse and Domestic Battery

Jennifer Diaz, 28, was arrested by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office on March 5, 2025, at midnight, on charges of child abuse without great bodily harm and domestic battery (touch or strike). Diaz was booked into the Seminole County Jail, marking her second known arrest for a violent offense in recent years.

Under Florida Statute 827.03(2)(c), child abuse without great bodily harm is a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison, five years of probation, and a $5,000 fine. This charge applies when an individual intentionally inflicts mental or physical harm on a child, encourages mistreatment, or acts in a way that could cause harm, even if no serious injuries occur.

Additionally, Diaz faces a charge of battery (touch or strike) – domestic violence under Florida Statute 784.03(1)(a), a first-degree misdemeanor that carries penalties of up to one year in jail, one year of probation, and a $1,000 fine. If convicted, she may also be subject to mandatory domestic violence counseling and a no-contact order with the alleged victim.

Court records indicate that Diaz has a prior arrest on March 8, 2022, for battery (dating violence), which suggests a pattern of violent conduct. While details regarding the latest incident remain unclear, Florida courts take child abuse and domestic violence cases seriously, often imposing strict protective measures and rehabilitation requirements for offenders.

Diaz’s legal proceedings will likely determine whether additional charges or protective orders will be issued. It remains uncertain whether she has posted bond or remains in custody.
