Boynton Beach Woman Arrested for Failure to Appear Following Prior Theft and Fraud Charges

On January 27, 2025, Jaeda Alexis Johns, a 24-year-old resident of Boynton Beach, was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of failure to appear in court under Florida Statute 843.15(1)(b). Johns, who resides on Renaissance Commons Boulevard, was taken into custody in connection to a missed court appearance related to prior legal issues.

Her arrest follows an earlier November 30, 2024 incident, in which she was booked by Boynton Beach Police on multiple charges, including larceny (other theft) under Florida Statute 812.014(3)(a) and fraud by swindle, involving an attempt to defraud property valued at less than $300, under Statute 817.034(4)(b)(2). These charges are classified as misdemeanor offenses, but repeated infractions or failure to comply with court proceedings can lead to enhanced penalties.

Failure to appear in court is a serious charge in Florida, particularly if it stems from an unresolved criminal case. Depending on the circumstances, the court may issue additional penalties, including warrants, increased fines, or extended probationary periods. In some cases, individuals who repeatedly fail to appear could face enhanced sentencing if convicted of the original offenses.

Johns is expected to appear before a judge to address the failure to appear charge, as well as the underlying theft and fraud allegations. Law enforcement continues to emphasize the importance of compliance with court orders, as missing scheduled appearances can lead to compounded legal consequences.
