Courtney Renee Gilbert, now 32, was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 9:00 a.m. in Fort Myers, Florida. At the time of the arrest, Gilbert was 18 years old and residing on the 11000 block of Harbour Yacht Court. She was charged with Driving Under the Influence (Alcohol or Drug) – 1st Offense, a misdemeanor under Florida Statute §316.193.

Under Florida law, a first-time DUI offense occurs when an individual is found to be operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or controlled substances, with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08% or higher, or while affected to the extent that normal faculties are impaired. As a first-degree misdemeanor, penalties may include up to six months in jail, a fine ranging from $500 to $1,000, mandatory DUI school, probation, and a license suspension for up to one year. Additional sanctions, such as community service and vehicle impoundment, are often imposed by the court.

No information has been provided about any aggravating circumstances, such as a minor in the vehicle or an accident, which could have elevated the penalties. It is unclear from available records whether Gilbert was convicted, participated in a diversion program, or successfully completed probation.
